Lambeth and Southwark Conservatives Launch 2026 Manifestos
Local Conservatives in Lambeth and Southwark have today unveiled their 2026 manifestos, setting out a clear and practical plan to improve life across both boroughs.
The documents, “Improving Lambeth, Together with Residents” and “Keeping Southwark Special” , focus on what residents consistently say matters most: safer streets, cleaner neighbourhoods, better-run services and a stronger voice in local decision-making.
Putting residents first
Across both boroughs, the approach is straightforward. Councils should focus on delivering high-quality core services, spend taxpayers’ money responsibly and work with residents rather than imposing decisions on them.
These manifestos have been shaped by conversations on doorsteps, with local businesses and with community groups. They reflect real concerns about crime, cleanliness, housing and the cost of living, alongside a shared desire to see our neighbourhoods thrive.
Lambeth: safer streets and stronger communities
In Lambeth, the Conservative plan centres on restoring trust and improving day-to-day services.
There is a strong focus on tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, particularly following recent disorder in Clapham. The manifesto sets out practical steps to improve safety, including strengthening neighbourhood policing, expanding community safety networks and targeting resources where they are most needed.
Alongside this, there are plans to:
- Clean up streets and tackle fly-tipping more quickly
- Fix the long-standing housing repairs backlog
- Support small businesses and revive high streets
- Protect and improve green spaces
- Restore financial discipline at the Town Hall
There is also a clear commitment to making Lambeth’s evening economy safer and better managed, with proposals for improved lighting, CCTV and closer coordination between venues, police and the council.
The aim is simple: safer neighbourhoods, better services and a council that listens.
Southwark: protecting what matters
In Southwark, the focus is on protecting what makes the borough special while addressing long-standing issues.
Residents have raised concerns about crime, waste collection, housing and the impact of council decisions on their communities. The Conservative plan responds with a renewed focus on doing the basics well.
Key priorities include:
- Tackling crime through stronger neighbourhood policing and prevention
- Improving waste services and taking firm action on fly-tipping
- Supporting local businesses and high streets
- Fixing housing management and speeding up repairs
- Ensuring better value for money for taxpayers
There is also a strong emphasis on giving residents more control over decisions that affect their area, including a greater say on transport schemes and local changes.
A clear alternative
Together, these manifestos set out a clear alternative for Lambeth and Southwark.
They focus on practical, deliverable policies that will make a real difference to residents’ daily lives. From safer streets to cleaner neighbourhoods and better services, the goal is to restore pride in our communities and ensure councils are working in the interests of the people they serve.
Local Conservatives will now be taking this positive vision directly to residents across both boroughs in the weeks ahead.
