It is with great sadness that we let everyone know that Bernard Gentry has this afternoon died at St David's Hospice in Llandudno aged 65.

Bernard passed away peacefully just 3 weeks on from having been diagnosed with several inoperable and very fast growing brain tumours.

Bernard was a stalwart of our party for over 40 years. He most recently served with distinction as Chairman of Welsh Conservatives and with a seat on the Board of the National Convention, following on from having been Deputy Chairman Political for North Wales.

Before retiring to North Wales in 2016 Bernard's life had revolved around Clapham where he was born, educated and worked for TfL there and elsewhere across London. He was based in the Control Room at Liverpool Street on the day of the terrorist tube bombings on 7th July 2005.

Bernard was a stalwart campaigner for our party, both in Clapham for very many years and in North Wales thereafter.

Bernard was elected to Lambeth Council for 3 separate 4-year terms over a 24-year period - twice for Clapham Town ward in 1994 and 2002 and once for the then Clapham Common ward in 2014.

Bernard stood as parliamentary candidate for Vauxhall in 1992, for Telford in 1997 and he was our Lambeth & Southwark GLA candidate in 2004.

Bernard also served as Chairman of Vauxhall Conservatives on a number of occasions over a 20-year period.

Other great loves of Bernard's life were watching horse racing, gardening and supporting Chelsea FC.

Bernard will be very sadly missed by all of his many friends from amongst London and Welsh Conservatives, National Convention Party Board colleagues and very many others.

Bernard will be remembered fondly as a dedicated public servant with a big heart. May he rest in peace.
